Activity Kit List

Essentials for all Seasons

For Daytime Use

  • Waterproof jacket – breathable waterproof materials like Gore-Tex are much more comfortable than non-breathable materials
  • Waterproof trousers
  • At least 3 layers – thin thermal layer or t-shirt made of wicking material rather than cotton next to the skin, a mid weight fleece and a thicker fleece
  • Trousers loose enough not to restrict movement
  • Shorts
  • Gloves, hat, neck warmer
  • Soft deck shoes or trainers
  • Sun screen
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun hat

Optional Items

  • Walking boots – needed for hill walks, leather or waterproof fabric and they need to be broken in
  • 2 or 3 pairs of walking socks
  • Shoes/boots for wet weather sailing
  • Good sized unbreakable water bottle or flask
  • Midge repellent – Avon’s Skin so Soft works a treat! Required May to September (Available on board to buy)
  • Rucksack to carry packed lunch, water bottle, spare clothing, waterproofs and other bits and pieces
  • Large plastic bag to put inside your rucksack to keep the contents completely dry

For Evening Use

  • 1 set of casual clothes
  • Toiletries
  • Torch (unlikely to be needed in June and July)
  • Slippers

Other useful items

  • Camera
  • Binoculars
  • Swimming costume
  • Spectacle/sunglasses neck cord
  • Walking poles – not essential but do help reduce the wear on your knees

Already Aboard

  • All equipment, wetsuits and buoyancy aids for trying watersports
  • Hairdryer available
  • A variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for sale at our bar
  • A wide selection of postcards

Walk the Great Glen/Country Walking – additional kit

  • All of the optional items become essential when taking part in our walking holidays

Canoe the Great Glen – additional kit

  • Wellington boots or wetsuit boots or old trail shoes
  • All of the optional items become essential apart from walking books and socks
  • We do have one barrel per boat for any items that must be kept dry

Bike and Barge/Bike the Great Glen – additional kit

  • We recommend bringing some gloves for hand protection
  • Bike shorts or close fitting trousers
  • We do have bikes and helmets on board but you are welcome to bring your own

Please pack your gear in soft bags or holdalls to fit under bunks!
